Insurance

Bodily- Injury liability pay claim against owner if someone is killed or injured and owner is at fault. It pay hospital and doctor bills, legal fees, court costs, and loss of wages.

Property damage liability protects the driver that is at fault by paying claims for others property that is damaged. It includes any damages to other car and things in the car. Also it includes surrounding damages like a telephone pole.

Collision covers your vehicle if you are at fault or can not collect from the person that is at fault. It repairs or replaces your car minus the deductible.

Comprehensive covers repairs or replaces owners car if damages aren't cause by collisions. Examples are fire, theft, storm damage, and vandalism. You must pay the deductible.

Uninsured and under-insured bodily and property damage pays for injuries to you and your passengers in case of a hit and run collision, uninsured or under insured. This pays for hospital and doctor bills, legal fees, court cost, and loss of wages.

Liability protects the driver who caused the collision. It pays for any other damages to another person that you are responsible for.

Deductible is the amount of money that you pay before the collision and comprehension insurance will pay. When you purchase auto insurance you can choose how high you want the deductible to be. Premium will be lower if the deductible is higher.

Vermont has a law that the coverage for death or injury to one person must be at least $25,000 and $50,000 for death or injury from two or more people. Also $10,000 for property damage is required. You must carry a card in your vehicle an show it if you are stopped and when you take the driving test. The fine is $100 and 2 points if you don't have one. If you don't have it with you , you have 15 days to prove you had insurance when you were stopped.
